Bethlehem where the Lord Jesus was born in a manger on 25 December, 1 B.C. (old calendar), an event testified to by the conjunction of planets, or a cometary visit, or a supernova star which led the Magi to the spot. The austure nature of the Church of the Nativity, built on the spot of the manger, contrasts to the pizazz of Christmas entreats the world over. What was once outside of town, is now more important than the town itself.
